Children need hope, they need REWA
Children need hope, they need REWA

Work report from Stanzin Yangskit, new Special Ed teacher for REWA, May 30th, 2022

On May 4th  I joined REWA SOCIETY as an educator.

Beginning of the day when they enter the centre I start my teaching by wishing students ‘HELLO’, and we start our morning assembly with other normal students of the school.

Morning assembly is done in order to develop a feeling of unity among all the students and teachers, and they start the day by praying.

I made a time table for students, it is very important for the childrens to recognise that what activities will be done at what time and also it minimise the confusion.

There is 10 subjects and according to this subject I have prepared this timetable which is given below:

Before I start the class I teach them some manners and etiquette like greeting someone, say ‘THANK YOU’, ‘SORRY’, ‘WELCOME’, etc.

I made all the students have the same book as to make them feel that they are also in school and every one is equal .They love to do they work .

Total we have 10 students in the class

Some of the students have really progressed AS earlier.

  • Stanzin L. – He is 12 years old ,he has a problem of concentration and he never sit on one place and always  moving around, never listen to the staff and never sit in class for a minute but now he attend the class regularly and he sitting in the class and attend entire activities as I guided him.he  used to sing a poem with action and  dance. His family is very impress and happy with the service.
  • Stanzin Ch. - when I joined the class on first day he didn’t know much , now he is  participating at morning assemply with all normal kids and he is singing /poem infront of all the kids and staff members .he wishing all his peers and staff members .he is  doing colouring, drawing, pattern, etc.
  •  Stanzin Y. - at first she was not able to hold and use pencil properly and spells correctly but at present she is able to do patterns, join line, and greet everyone. Her family is very happy and they are also happy is because  she is taking interest and excited  to go Rewa regularly.
  • Stanzin J. - he also knew nothing but now he is good in colouring, craft, poem and greeting everyone.Started participate at school assembly and started building confident and telling poem with action in front of all .

MY UPCOMING PLANS

To take them outing and  demonstrate  various activities and things like plantation, making a house with sand and other material, collecting a different types of stone and making different things etc.  I also want to introduce outdoor games to them like kick the boll, capture the flag, hide and seek etc.which will improve their fine and gross motor .

As other schools take the students on trips I also intend to take them out like trips to show them outer environment and make them feel  and learn by experiencing and build confident .

My motive is to motivate these children that they can also be successful in their life and they disablility is not a barrier . These children believe that if they try to do some work
