My name is Johanna Klein ( born Komp). I am a doctor and live in Freiburg im Breisgau. As the initiator of the project and co-founder of Ladakh-Hilfe e. V., I have accompanied Karola Wood and the previous board from the background over the past 20 years and supported them in their tireless work wherever possible. I am deeply grateful to Karola Wood for building up such a wonderful project from a spontaneous idea of a young, committed student. It all began in 2001 in the small mountain village of Lingshed, where I met Rigzin, our ‘original child’, and promised to help her mother. A request for help in a physiotherapy magazine was answered by Karola Wood, among others, and the ball started rolling. For reasons of age, Karola Wood would now like to pass on the sceptre and I am very grateful to be able to accept it in order to contribute to the continued success of the project with the help of the many supporters. The aim is to also make the Kargil site independent and to provide our staff in Leh and Kargil with professional support in order to enable and secure qualified therapy for the children.
My name is Sara Lücking ( born Ale Mohammad). I was born in Iran in 1973, where I completed a teaching degree and taught. I have lived in northern Germany since 1996. In Hamburg, I taught at the Persian school and then taught at a curative Waldorf school. I have now been working in Bielefeld since 2021 as a class teacher at a special school for children with various disabilities. In my small class, I am supported by a multicultural team and teach children from nine different cultures. In March of this year, I completed my training as an ‘intercultural trainer’ at the University of Osnabrück.
It is important to me to make my life experience and my professional expertise in the field of curative education available to the ‘Ladakh Hilfe’ association as a board member. I have been closely following the activities of the organisation for 12 years. I am particularly motivated by the opportunity to transform my solidarity with the people in the project into active support. My experience, which I gained during an insightful trip to India, as well as my ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner in a spirit of solidarity and at eye level, help me to do this.
I look forward to working with you, with best regards, Sara Lücking.
My name is Andrea Kramer, I am 54 years old and live with my husband and son in Freiburg-Kappel.
My love for Asia began in 1997 in Bangkok with my first job after studying economics. The beautiful and varied country never let me go! Since then, I have travelled extensively in South-East Asia and am delighted by the friendly people, despite the sometimes difficult living conditions.
I have only just handed over my position as treasurer of the Schauinsland Primary School Association in Freiburg to my successor and was still wistful when I learnt that the Ladakh-Hilfe association needed reinforcements and I am looking forward to the new task.
My name is Bernhard Dunst, I work in the IT sector and live in Freiburg.
I only know Ladakh-Hilfe e. V. and its work from Johanna Klein's stories and I am happy to support this organisation as secretary.
