The pupils, special needs teachers, physiotherapists and other staff at Rewa celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great passion, enthusiasm and national pride on the grounds of the Munshi Habibullah School.

The celebrations were organised under the leadership of the esteemed headteacher, Mr Gulzar Hussain Munshi, whose leadership inspired the entire Rewa team to make the event a meaningful, inclusive and educational experience for the pupils. The programme was designed not only as a celebration but also as an opportunity to instil in the pupils a deeper understanding of the values of patriotism.

In the week leading up to Independence Day, the special needs teachers, physiotherapists and other staff actively involved the pupils in a range of creative activities. The pupils were encouraged to explore the symbolism and significance of the ‘tricolour (the Indian national flag)’ through art, crafts and music. The activities included colouring in and decorating the tricolour, paper cutting and craft work, creating designs using coloured paper, drawing flowers in the colours of the national flag, and taking part in sing-alongs. The dedicated involvement of the staff throughout the preparation phase and the celebration ensured that every pupil was encouraged to participate according to their abilities and interests. These activities offered the pupils an enjoyable and meaningful way to express their love for their country, whilst also fostering their creativity, self-confidence, coordination and sense of belonging. The pupils rehearsed and sang popular songs with great enthusiasm, including ‘I Love My India’, ‘Yeh Mera India’ and ‘Sare Jahan Se Achchha Hindustan Hamara’. The songs created an atmosphere of national pride and reminded everyone of the shared spirit of unity and belonging that binds India’s diverse people together.

As part of the Independence Day celebrations, a lively ‘Tiranga rally’ took place at the school on 13 August 2026. The rally reflected the pupils’ enthusiasm and their sense of attachment to their homeland. Proudly holding the national flag in their hands, the pupils marched from the assembly point towards the school hall, singing songs as they went. When they reached the school entrance hall, the pupils gathered and sang songs together. This moment beautifully illustrated the ideals of unity in diversity, shared participation and respect for the nation. For the pupils, the rally provided an opportunity to experience patriotism not merely as a concept, but as a shared sentiment expressed through action, creativity and a sense of togetherness.

The Independence Day celebrations were a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of freedom, unity and India’s democratic values. The sight of young pupils wearing the tricolour, singing patriotic songs and presenting their creative work reflected the hope and promise of a new generation that honours the sacrifices made for the country and cherishes the freedoms it enjoys today. The programme concluded on a note of pride, gratitude and national unity, leaving a lasting impression on pupils and staff alike through the timeless message of Independence Day: that India’s strength lies in its people, its diversity, its unity and its shared commitment to building a better and more inclusive future.
