While the warming rays of sunshine are luring the first flowers out of the ground here, it is still bitterly cold in the distant Himalayas.

It has been a dry winter in Kargil so far. In contrast to the usual snowy winters, it has only snowed very little this year and the mountain passes were passable, so that life could continue without major restrictions.

The school doors are expected to open again in mid-March and the children will once again be able to meet their friends and teachers after the long winter vacation.

Our team in Kargil is also looking forward to the first day of school!
