What was planned – how it turned out and what happens next
We, Rosemarie Geenen and Heike Holz, have taken over the therapeutic support and training of our colleagues in Ladakh from Barbara Forst. In regular Zoom meetings, we discuss topics and questions from everyday therapy based on the Bobath concept. A therapy chat has been set up and is available to the team in Ladakh at any time. Case consultations based on specific questions, illustrated with photos and videos, are very fruitful.
The focus of 2025 was the international EACD/IAACD congress. Physiotherapist Farzana Akhtar from Kargil was invited to participate in the EACD/IAACD. The
international congress was to be accompanied by a wide range of supervision opportunities at various institutions in Hamburg and a physiotherapy practice in Erlangen. Unfortunately, Farzana's visa
application was rejected. This meant that plans had to be changed quickly, and she ended up participating in the congress virtually. She attended a variety of lectures, discussed them with Farzana
afterwards, and applied them to everyday issues. The connection to her own work as a therapist at REWA was particularly important here. New knowledge was acquired, but it was also possible to compare
it with already established procedures.
In our monthly Zoom meetings, we used topics from the IAACD to discuss and explore them in greater depth with the therapists. Direct transfer into everyday work played a very important role in this.
Overall, it was once again an exciting collaboration with our colleagues in Ladakh, which we will continue next year. As before, the focus will be on
everyday work with children and young people. We look forward to the ongoing exchange.
