Children need hope, they need REWA
Children need hope, they need REWA

 Practical training and congress participation

Farzana Akhtar is one of our senior physiotherapists in Kargil. She has a bachelor's degree in physiotherapy and has been working for Rewa na Kasco in Kargil since March 2022.
She is very committed, works very efficiently, is goal-oriented and has a great interest in expanding her knowledge, further training and networking.

In 2025, the International Congress of the International Alliance of Childhood Disabilities (IAACD) and the European Academy of Childhood Disabilities (EACD) will take place in Heidelberg. It offers professionals as well as those affected and their families the opportunity to learn about the current state of research and expertise in the field of congenital and early childhood developmental disorders. International experts will present various developmental disorders ranging from cerebral palsy and autism spectrum disorders to congenital neurological disorders and explain current therapeutic approaches and measures. The congress is an ideal platform for gaining a sound insight into the current state of the art in the various fields by participating in lectures and seminars. The congress language is English.

By participating in the congress, we would like to offer Farzana Akhtar the opportunity to expand her knowledge and to network with colleagues from all over the world and to give her the opportunity to experience various physiotherapy work areas in Germany in the context of short internships.

Hamburg is planned as the first port of call. Predecessors have already looked beyond the horizon here in 2016 and 2018. Thanks to the still strong contacts of our former Quality Officer Barbara Forst, Farzana will be given the opportunity to observe and exchange ideas with colleagues. Visits will be made to institutions that care for children and young people with similar support needs to the children/young people at Rewa na Kasco Kargil. Visits are planned to early intervention centers, daycare centers and schools for children with special needs (physical disabilities, challenging behavior, autism spectrum disorders, ...).
The former manager of Rewa Society, Stanzin Chokla, who now lives in Hamburg and works as a physiotherapist, has already agreed to be available to Farzana for an exchange of experiences and as a city and cultural guide.
From Hamburg, they will then travel to the congress in Heidelberg. Here, Farzana and Heike Holz will enjoy the varied, individually arranged program.

This will be followed by a trip to Erlangen to the “Children, Movement and Development” practice (Heike Holz, Regina Hahn, Ulrike Krömeke). Farzana will be given an intensive insight into the therapy of children with a wide range of disabilities during an observation period lasting several days. She will be accompanied by Heike Holz and Rosemarie Geenen. The focus of the dialogical approach is on the concerns of the young patients and their parents. In direct contact, questions from the family's everyday life are addressed and solutions are developed that can be implemented at home. In this way, the theoretical content of the 2023 intensive seminar in Ladakh, which was conducted by the two therapists, is built on and deepened.

We are now looking for supporters to help finance this project. Exact details of the costs are not yet possible. However, they will amount to a total of around 4000 euros for travel, congress and accommodation fees. Any amount is welcome and will go 100% towards the project. Please transfer your desired amount to our association account with the subject “Congress participation Farzana Akhtar 2025”. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us (info@ladakh-hilfe.de).

With cordial thanks and best regards
