This year's volunteer's preparation meeting took place on the 1st and 2nd March in Hauptmannsgreuth with Betzigau, Kempten. 18 participants and 5 afternoon guests met for a time of getting to know each other, instruction and active exchange. On Friday evening the first guests from all areas of Germany already arrived, they came all the way from Northern Germany. The father of Anna Probst had taken over the shuttle service again and had fetched the people reliably at the railway station in Kempten and had returned them at the end of the meeting. Gulzar Munshi, president of REWA Kargil and Dr. Stanzin Chokla, manager of REWA Ladakh, took part in the meeting and got to know the future volunteers.
The family Hebeisen arrived with both of their sons from Switzerland. They take the in English speaking boys with them to Ladakh where they will visit the Munshi Habibullah mission school during the time of their parent’s term in Kargil.
Saturday started with general introduction and getting to know each other more detailed. Then Karola Wood held a presentation about the work and backgrounds of Ladakh-Hilfe/REWA. Gulzar Munshi presented an informative presentation about his work in Kargil, in particular the planned inclusion of our children with impediments in the Munshi Habibullah mission school. Stanzin Chokla REWA presented structures and organization of REWA and introduced plans for 2015. After the lunch break Barbara Forst took the lead with a professional presentation about teaching contents. She challenged the volunteers to aim at international level for our work in Ladakh in most basic areas. The convergence of the teaching contents had caused already in 2013 an essential improvement of the quality and ability of treatment of the local employees.
Questions were answered extensively and then Ladakh-Hilfe co worker Julia Bathe introduced the idea and handling of the therapy sponsoring. Former and returning volunteer Karin Wollanka showed vast amounts of wonderful pictures from her time in Ladakh and the other ex-volunteers introduced their work in Ladakh to the new volunteers. In the evening the meeting ended with spending time together cooking and eating, on Sunday morning most participants started early to resume their long way home.
The whole meeting was saturated with hearty friendship and shone with unexpectedly high level in talks and contents. To keep the expenses low for the German NGO, a simple holiday apartment was rented for this purpose, the participants were able to cook and maintain themselves. Many thanks to the parents of Anna Probst, without whose backgrounds help the meeting would not have been possible in this way. The next meeting for volunteers in 2015 takes place most probably from the 28.02nd to the 01.03rd.
