Nyoma field trip report

in July 2008

from Chuskit Yangdol

Participants: Kathi,Suzi,Tundup, Chuskit and one nun from REWA society, Tsering Dolma

We started from Leh on 10th July,2008 to Chumathang, which is 180km from Leh in the district of Nyoma.

We have 10 patients in Nyoma block and from them 4 patients are under Chumathang where physios are allowed to visit, but at Nyoma they are not allowed where rest of the patients are. It is because that place is restricted. Local people can visit there so me,Tundup and the nun went there and checked all the patients.

One of our patient needs wheel chair because she has C.P. and we will get her one.

There is another patient who needs crutches and we will send it tomorrow.

We have one new patient at Chumathang who is a monk. We couldn’t diagnose him earlier so we told him to come to Leh and he came to Leh after 4 days. We took him to the doctor for the X-ray and he subscribed him some medicine and advised us to do his C.T scan. So we are taking him for C.T scan on this coming Saturday. He has got problems in his hips and also has problem in walking. His problem is similar to Lobzang(zanskar), problaby a condition after tuberculosis of the bone with partial destruction of hip bone. We will see what we can do for him concerning aids for walking, shoes etc.

Will inform you more about this monk in future.Take Care.
