Delhi trip from 29th October till 9th of December 2008

Patients- Tsering Dorjey 30/ yrs old/ male (Spine injury) along with his wife Tsering Dolker, Sonam Yangchan 12/ yrs old / female (Spina Bifida) along with her mother Yangchan Dolma and Deachen Lamo 5/ yrs old/ female (Hydrocephalus) along with her father Tsewang Dorjey.

Our journey towards Delhi was something so special that every one should understand that nothing is impossible if we only try.

St. Stephens Hospital in Delhi

Our plan was to visit AIIMS hospital to do some MRI and operations but who knows what or where our destiny leads us. After reached in Delhi on 29th we directly went to Buddha vihar where we booked our room for stay. But due to the expenses we had to move MEHRAULI place on 30th evening. It was our luck that we got a place for staying otherwise we had to pay 360/ Rs / night for all together.
And in MEHRAULI we met such a wonderful person LAMA LOBZANG, who's so well known in Ladakh, with his
graceful the Doctors from AIIMS are visiting once a year in September for one week clinic camp through SNM
( Sonam Norboo memorial hospital). The Doctors like orthopedics, Neurologist, Pediatrics etc. are coming and helping the patients with various illnesses.
So person like LAMA LOBZANG organizing and contributing funds from western countries and taking expenditure of Doctor's flight tickets, leaving and staying in Leh.

Our patients are visiting the Lotus Temple for the first time

Fortunately this year we met some Doctor's like ShaAlam Khan (orthopedic) in Leh and got chance to bring our patients like Sonam and Tsering to show them a right path.
I am so thankful to Karola, the director of Rewa society, who gives a full support to face all the difficulties and especially thanks to our sponsors because without you all Rewa is incomplete. It was really hard to meet the Doctor's on time as there was more than thousand patients are visiting and who were standing in a long queue. But luckily Lama
Lobzang was there to introduce us and got chance to show our patient first.
Their I met Dr. ShaAlam Khan (Orthopedic) and Dr. Padma (Neurology) to see our patients. The doctor's suggested to do some MRI for them but it was difficult to wait for a month to get one MRI? In the end Doctor's suggest to do in a private MRI center and finally done at ORGAN IMAGING RESEARCH CENTRE (I) Pvt.Ltd.

Dolkar and Chuskit in Delhi

As I told you in the beginning that nothing is impossible if we only try! So I went to talked with
the chief of the center and when I did mentioned about our work in Ladakh , he did discount of around 9000/ INR from our patients. After done the MRI from Deachen Lamo, the Neuro Surgeon Doctor Ashish Suri gives up the hope and suggests continuing with the epilepsy medication as it should be done before one and half month and no it's too late to do the operation. So I decided to send them home back.
After a long struggle for Tsering Dr. Ashish decide to give him a continue physiotherapy as it will give him a better life than to do spine surgery because of the critical case. So I bought some condom catheters from chemist for him which Doctors suggest him to use for his bladder control and some medication to grow nerves for the whole life. It was so hard to see all that situations but I was there to give them lot of courage and hope, for what Rewa is stands! But it was also nice to show them a beautiful place like Lotus Temple in Delhi!

Sonam after her much need operation

In the end Sonam was the last patient and we were waiting for a phone call from the hospital to get empty bed to done operation but it was difficult to get in? So we call up Mr. David and he suggested to shifting in a private hospital St. Stephens's hospital. Same time without wasting our time we follow Mr. David and there we met Dr. Yoel Paljor (Neurology) from Ladakh. After showed the whole reports and MRI, he introduced Dr. Sushil Kumar (Neuro Surgeon) who has done successfully the operation on 19th of November and she got discharged on 26th of November.
In the beginning she had very less power in her right lower limb and hardly did some exercises but slowly slowly
she got improved and these days she can do more exercises actively but for her at the moment she is not able to walk. Due to the coldness in Ladakh her parents has decide to stay along with Sonam in Chandigarh for two months, so that she can heal more quickly. After some days we moved to Chandigarh and there I met her father who's doing a small job in Mahabodhi hostel and he told me that in hostel his family can stay for two months without paying for food
and accommodation. It was not easy to leave this sweet girl Sonam with whom I spend most of my time in Delhi but finally I back to Delhi on 8th of December and 9th to Leh Ladakh.

Hey! Friends it was really a memorable time that I had spend in Delhi and quite hard as well!
Hope for the best and never give up!
