One way to reach and serve our patients in the remote areas is to take regular fieldtrips during months where there is no snow. A team of qualified therapist prepares quite tediously to get ready for such a fieldtrip: They have to check the records of the patients to see what they need concerning therapy, prepare aids and medication, get food ready for the staff and get the car ready.
Some areas we visit only twice a year to the remoteness like Zanskar twice a year, but other areas get visited more frequently, like Nubra Valley 4 x a year. We keep records of the patients and the visits. If a patient needs medical evaluation and therapy we take them to Leh or the next hospital with our cars since it is very difficult to travel with children with severe disabilities in public busses. We do not announce our visits as to guarantee that we find the children in the situation they are in every day of their life.
