PhysioCamp 2 The next Physio-Camp will be held from 20-30.04.2005 in Leh, Ladakh. Karola Kostial will travel to A new discovery surprised our Physios in March: Outside of Leh an integrative
class of about 15 handicapped children is supported by die Indian
Army. The caretakers are social workers, most of them participants
of our first PhysioCamp in December. The head teacher, a highly
motivated professional, is eager to
accept and apply the suggestions of help of our Physios immediately.
Her English is excellent and she wants to participate as a trainee
at the PhysioCamp2. Her very engaged all woman team
takes very good care of the children and the hygienic condition
of the handicapped is remarkable. The disablement of the children
includes mainly CP- tetraplegic, CP-hemiplegic and muscledystonia..
All of the children need professional physiotherapy desperately.
This „Good Will School“ works together with the Namgyal Institute. The
School is very social since it also takes care of the children of
needy parents for free. Hippotherapie/Therapeutic Horsebackriding At the moment our Physios are searching for suitable horses to use for
therapeutic purposes. They want to introduce the possibility of
using horseback riding as an effective therapeutic way of treating
the disabled children. Horses are a way of life for the people of
Ladakh and our German Physiotherapist Christine Oberlinner has experience
in this field of treatment. The locals are open for this teaching
and it leaves to speculations as to the further development. The King of Ladakh, Mr. Jigmet
Namgyal Two
Physiotherapists visit the King and treat his handicapped daughter
about 2-3 times a week. Our visits are very well accepted and appreciated.
Good contacts have been established and many discussions were being
held about our work in Ladakh. We hope for a good long term working
relationship and friendship with this wonderful man and his family.
