Lhosar
and Christmas 2007
It
is definitely cold in winter time here in Ladakh, but peoples hearts
are warmer than ever.
We arrived just in time to celebrate with the Ladakhis our first Lhosar,
the Tibetan New Year Festival. During one week we were invited by
many peoples into their homes where we were served very good food.
Then Christmas came and it was our chance to invite all of the people
to our office for having a nice German dinner. It was not a "Holy
night" like we celebrate it back home, but a very funny Christmas
Party. We also had a Christmas tree made out of sea-buckthorn branches.
We danced, sang, laughed, eat, and celebrated the entire evening;
up until the electricity shut off. Then we watched the bright shining
full moon for a while and went tired to bed absolutely tired.
All in all it was the most special and most unforgettable Christmas
night we ever had.
